Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Additive Manufacturing
Manuel Muehlbauer is a designer, consultant and PhD researcher at Spatial Information Architecture Lab (SIAL, RMIT University) in Melbourne with a specialization in design computation and architectural optimisation. In his professional activities he integrates design, innovation and technology into multi-disciplinary research projects at the intersection of architecture, engineering and computer science.
His research focuses on performance simulation, generative design and workflow design for the use of artificial intelligence in early design stages of architectural design. Targeting improved performance of architectural products through streamlined design processes, technological disruption in design is of major interest to him.
Manuel Muehlbauer applied his skills successfully during international research projects dealing with custom-optimisation of structural nodes and simulation of airflow around complex facade geometries. At this stage his research explores the potential of interactive multi-criteria optimisation to improve architectural design processes.
